Runway Beams: Runway beams are fixed structural elements—typically I-beams—installed on either side of your facility. These beams support the full weight of the crane system and remain stationary during operation. Runway rails are mounted on top of these beams, providing a path for the bridge to travel smoothly across the workspace.
Bridge Girder: The bridge girder spans between the two runway beams and carries the crane’s main lifting components. Connected to each end of the girder are end trucks, which allow the bridge to glide along the runway rails. Depending on the lifting requirements, underhung bridge cranes can be equipped with either a single girder or double girders—known respectively as single-girder or double-girder bridge cranes.
Crane Trolley: Mounted on the bridge girder, the crane trolley travels side-to-side, perpendicular to the runway direction. This allows for full coverage of the facility floor. The hoist is attached to the trolley and handles the actual lifting, using a wire rope and hook to safely raise and lower heavy loads.
